thankful thursdays 9/16

* Keziah started a new semester of Liberty Girls today. She is super excited, has read her two chapters in Pollyanna, has two braids that magically happened without her usual “You are hurting my head!” screams, and is wearing her thick, blue cardigan. She looks adorable and had a big smile on her face as I dropped her off. What fun!

I am so thankful for the wonderful families in our lives who have created amazing classes and clubs and invite my children to participate. Having other children to associate with who are reading, learning, and discovering together makes a HUGE difference in their lives and surrounds them with a community of like-minded peers that are on the same off-the-beaten-path educational journey we are on. We are greatly blessed!

* The weather has been glorious this week. Thank you Mr. Sun for shining on me and warming me with your rays. I am NOT a winter person and last week’s rain almost did me in!

* Richard’s mom had surgery yesterday and she seems to be doing really well. We have all prayed for her much this week. I am grateful for her recovery so far and hope she is back to normal quick as a wink!

* My Math Alive! class was so FUN yesterday! I challenged the children to build pyramids out of golf balls in preset configurations and it was much harder than it at first appeared. None of the adults could do it and it was SO fun to watch the children working hard, concentrating so much that nothing could distract them from their goal of solving the puzzle. I fell in love with mentoring these children while I watched them think.

Finally, after class ended, Courtney Lamoreaux amazed us all by solving it! She was so proud of herself! Way to use your brain, Miss Courtney!

* Today I am grateful for cello choir. A group of four students have been practicing together all summer and tomorrow is our recital. We have improved immensely and I have learned much. I love each member of our little quartet and hope our performance tomorrow will be a reflection of how much work we have put into it.

A big thanks to Jennifer for creating our choir and for playing with us tomorrow – she will help us sound much, much better!

* I am grateful for washers and dishwashers and cleaners and rags and vacuums and every time-saving device I have in my home. I am so far behind on my housekeeping duties and I realize that if was washing clothing by hand it would be impossible to ever catch up. You would think being gone out of my home for two days every week would somehow give me less work to do since there is no one here making a mess, but somehow it seems I have even more work and no where near as much time to do it! I hope by October I will have figured out how to more effectively plan my days so my home runs smoothly…surely, that is something to hope for?

Fisher and Annesley are ready for me to read them a stack of books from the library, so I am going to snuggle up with them and discover some new treasures!
