thankful thursdays 3/17

Mar 17, 2011

My Thankful Thursdays posts keep getting skipped. Trust me, it has nothing to do with a lack of gratitude, just a lack of time. Thursdays are pretty busy around here because we have our little friend, Christopher, here on Thursday mornings. His mama is in college right now and Christopher goes to a different friends house each morning of the week. Thursday is our day. We love having him, but it does complicate things a wee bit.

So today, I thought I would write my post before anyone is up. I think it is the only way it is going to get done on this busy, busy day!

* Kat’s birthday was yesterday and tonight is her birthday party! I can’t wait to celebrate with her and our group of friends! Yippee for birthdays and dear friends…they add up to oodles of blessings for me!

* Today I am thankful for my Math Alive! fellow mentor. I created this math class for Keziah and invited other children in Love of Learning phase to join us. We have sixteen students and have had so much fun with them. Sometimes I can’t think of what to do next, or I don’t have all the supplies I need, or I have no idea how to teach a topic, and Jennifer comes to the rescue with a wonderful idea, just the right supplies, or she figures out just how to teach something to a child who isn’t quite grasping the current concept. She has made the class far better and I am so grateful she decided to join me on this new adventure.

* A few weeks back I had the thought of having Blythe work at the TJED Forum on Friday to earn her ticket for Saturday’s classes. I had just a small roadblock…I wasn’t going to be there till Friday night and she would need to be there at 6:30 a.m. Friday morning. Well, good friends came to the rescue! Cami took Blythe with them to watch A Tale of Two Cities today (yes, she will get to see it twice since she saw it a few weeks ago with the huge group I took down) and will watch over her today. Then she will give her to Diann tonight and Blythe will get to stay with her friend Macey. Up and early tomorrow, Blythe will be working and earning her way to the Forum. I am grateful for the opportunity Blythe has to work and for the help of all sorts of people to make it work seamlessly (at least I hope it all goes off as planned!)

* My road is drying up, my road is drying up, high ho the darrie-o, my road is drying up!

After the last several weeks of an almost impassible road, a dryish road that we are not getting stuck on is a huge blessing. We have pushed out lots of people and even had to get the suburban pulled out last week. It is always a huge mess this time of year, but the howling wind storms of the last few nights have whisked away the moisture and I think we are finally past the getting-stuck craziness!
——————————————————————————————————————————–* I am thankful for food to eat. I never know at the beginning of the month how we will make it through the month, but somehow, month after month we have plenty to eat. Miracles are real. God does provide. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that we have been taken care of by His hands and His servants.

Time for my morning smoothie! Kez has just whipped us up one and I am going to enjoy every last sip!

I’ve so missed your Thursdays. It’s like a week without sunshine when you don’t add one to your posts. I’ll savor this one.
