potw: on top of spaghetti

Sep 19, 2011

I decided we needed some humor this week and this poem is just the ticket to laughter! I can’t wait to read it to them this morning and start memorizing it! I can’t help but sing it to the tune of “On Top Of Old Smokey.”

On Top of Spaghetti
by Anonymous (why wouldn’t someone take credit for this?)

On top of spaghetti, all covered with cheese,
I lost my poor meatball, when somebody sneezed.

It rolled off the table, and onto the floor,
And then my poor meatball, rolled out of the door.

It rolled into the garden, and under a bush,
And then my poor meatball, was nothing buy mush.

The mush was as tasty, as tasty can be,
And early next summer, it grew into a tree.

The tree was all covered, with beautiful moss,
It grew lovely meatballs and tomato sauce.

So if you eat spaghetti, all covered with cheese,
Hold onto your meatball, and don’t ever sneeze!

Such a fun poem. How did the two little ones do with it?

They loved it! Fisher has it memorized, Annes not quite.
